Zodiac Bath Guide

Black Girl Relaxing 🙌🏾
It’s fairly well known that our ancestors loved to bathe. The Moors even brought hygiene into other areas of the globe (far before your history books are willing to teach). Hygiene was of the utmost importance to daily practice, with some ancestors washing several times a day to appease the gods. Some of the wealthiest people had dedicated spaces in their homes for bathing (a literal room with a bath) but most people just bathed in the Nile River. Having a healthy and happy afterlife was more important than this anything in this earthly life to most Ancients, so everything that they did here in this realm was for a happier, brighter, more fulfilling afterlife in another realm. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Because not only did our ancestors use bathing for hygiene; they bathed in spices and herbs to smell good, to help with skin conditions, and to support other systems of the body! They also used bathing in rituals to invoke specific deities, or to place intention during moon phases. They knew the simple practice of an herbal bathing ritual can place your focus much closer to your intention than just a regular thought or prayer. That’s because they knew that each herb, root, and plant have planetary correspondences that connects directly to source.

I’ve always loved a nice hot bath. With bubbles up to my chin I could stay in a bathtub for hours, listening to jazz music, sipping on wine. I’ve also been known to read an entire book in a bath, practiced my lines for an upcoming play, once or twice I’m sure I left my body lol. A bath can soothe achy muscles, relax spasmatic menstrual cramps, and ease a person to sleep with the proper ingredients. One can also create intention baths, with herbal ingredients corresponding to whatever your intention may be.
An intention bath can also be known as a spiritual bath depending on what is used during the ritual itself. I’ve found if you’re using herbs, crystals, candles, and the power of your mind it’s an intention bath. But if you’re petitioning deities, and using items that correlate to them, it’s a spiritual bath…but really, a bath is a spiritual process in and of itself, so go awf sis, call it whatever you want. I’ve created quite a few intention baths in the past few years. Taking the time to research each herb and each root. Reading up on the meanings of each candle color, and each ingredient used is no easy task, but I’ve created some amazing baths and manifested some incredible outcomes with intention baths.

First you set the stage with candles and crystals. Your candles and crystals can harmonize with the zodiac sign you’re calling on, or you can use your basic quartz and your basic white candle. Always use those 2 in a pinch.

There are several ways to take an intention bath.
1 – My favorite way – Gather all your herbal ingredients and toss them in a large stockpot with some water, bring to a boil and strain over the bathtub (that you’ve already gotten ready with bubbles…cause bubbles). This way you cut down on the mess, and the water is HELLA hot.
2 – I do this often! - Add all your herbal ingredients to a muslin bag (they’re hella inexpensive and you can reuse them!) and toss into the bathtub. This way they’re confined to the bag and won’t create a big ol mess when you take the tub stopper out. Bonus….you can actually add some liquid soap directly on the bag and create a makeshift loofah and scrub your body with the herbs!
3 – I used to do this lol – Run your bath water, add a handful of each ingredient to the water and hope that your landlord doesn’t realize that you’ve created a plumbing nightmare. (please, don’t do this unless you get a bathtub strainer to catch most of the menstruum, really guys, you don’t want this nightmare) There is something natural and basic and simple in taking a bath with all the herbs gliding through the water. I mostly wanted to do this like…outside, on a hilltop, with like, 2 birds holding a towel for me to dry off with when I get out of the tub. I’m still holding out for this daydream to come true. You COULD technically do this if you have access to a kiddie pool, and outdoors where you won’t be spied upon. Then just dump the water on the ground below to compost. That’d be pretty cool to do that at night, under the light of a full moon, after you sacrif- er nevermind. The thing is, you create whatever you want with your mind…the power, the result, it all comes from your mind first.
I recently (in July lol) had a birthday, and I thought to create a bath with herbs to correspond to my specific zodiac sign. I wanted to harness the energy of my sun sign during my solar return with an intention bath made from Cancerian herbs. And then I thought to myself…I should do this for ALL the zodiac signs! And as an added bonus, you can use this list to create your own customized intention bath during a new or full moon. Say, you want to acquire more attention to detail because you want a raise at work, and the moon in Virgo is coming up (Virgos are known for their meticulous attention to detail). You want to harness the energy of that moon with herbs that corresponds to both Virgo energy and Prosperity, you can look at this list below to see what herbs harmonize with Virgo, and maybe throw in a little basil, a lil rosemary, for prosperity…you know, just create!!
